Vienna, Austria Amusement Park

10/1/2012

We were looking for more fun for the kids and after a little research on the computer we found an Amusement Park in Vienna.  Just a 1 hour train ride to the north west and yet another wonderful city awaits.

First stop, a surprise to get off the train and be in front of the Belvedere Palace - home of Prince Eugene of Savoy, commanding officer of the Hapsburg army for 50 years.

October Fest has started and a major festival is located near the entrance of the Prater Amusement Park.  Several hundred people arrive dressed in their Lederhosen & traditional Austrian dresses.

We get a family ride card for use at most of the rides.  This is a great diversion from the historical tours, just good old fashioned amusement park fun.  Ryan & Kevin are the daredevils of the group riding the towering swing: The Prater Tower is the new landmark of Vienna Prater and Vienna. Built in 2010 Kettenkarusell with its 117-meter world the highest Kettenkarusell.

More thrilling ride fun for the boys!!! what is Fahrt?  "Ride"  you silly goose...

Our new Austrian Octoberfest  friends

After a bit of souvenir shopping we head home on the train.
Thanks Vienna for a fun day.  We may return for the history tour and more Mozart background.

Next tour - Venice, Italy - I hear the beaches calling me.
